Carnie Wilson’s daughter Lola enlists two-thirds of Wilson Phillips for ‘American Idol’ audition

Lola Bonfiglio, daughter of Carnie Wilson, is holding strong for another round after making it through the first stage of auditions on American Idol.

Bonfiglio made her debut on Sunday’s show and brought along some famous family support to help her shine. Her mom, Carnie, and aunt Wendy Wilson—two-thirds of the iconic band Wilson Phillips—joined in to lend a hand, harmonizing with her on their hit song “Hold On,” while Bonfiglio sang the melody. Her father, Rob Bonfiglio, was by her side, strumming the guitar. Missing from the reunion was Chynna Phillips, the third member of the trio.

The Idol judges—Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie—were caught off guard by the surprise appearance of Carnie and Wendy. Underwood, in particular, was starstruck, even lip-syncing along to “Hold On.”

Bonfiglio also performed a beautiful solo of Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow.” As she sang, Carnie Wilson couldn’t hold back her emotions, wiping away tears as she watched her daughter shine.

The judges praised Bonfiglio for the “beauty” and “honesty” in her voice but encouraged her to step into her confidence and take up more space in the room. Despite the advice, they were clearly impressed and gave her three yeses, sending the 19-year-old singer on to the next round.

After the audition, the judges and crew joined in on a heartfelt rendition of “Hold On” as Bonfiglio and her family celebrated the moment just outside.

Carnie Wilson, beaming with pride, told her daughter, “I love you and I’m so proud of you. You were born to sing—that’s just the bottom line.”
